Less busywork.
More room for
curiosity.

I’m Samuel. My hobby projects explore Cantonese, gaming and connected living. At work, I use AI and better tools to make everyday workflows clearer, smoother and less repetitive.

SIDE QUESTS / 01

Things I enjoy building.

Language, everyday problems and a little experimentation. These are the projects I make for the pleasure of figuring things out.

01 / CREATIVE AI

AniCanto

Local AI dubbing for Japanese animation, in Hong Kong Cantonese, English or both. Speech recognition, translation, voices and selectable subtitles come together in one desktop workflow. After downloading the models, processing runs on your computer without a cloud model.

Why it matters to meBringing the sound and personality of Hong Kong Cantonese into a creative hobby I enjoy.

Script Bridge use with FileMaker

Script Bridge 1.1.0 runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and Windows, for use with FileMaker. Draft scripts with optional on-device Gemma or Qwen AI, or bring in text from another AI tool. Review and validate the draft, then convert it into native FileMaker clipboard steps before you paste.

Why it matters to meSpending more time shaping a useful script and less time copying the same steps by hand.

Smarter home charging

Connecting Intelligent Octopus Go with FoxESS so EV charging doesn’t drain the home battery. A Raspberry Pi server keeps the automation running, with a mobile web dashboard for schedules and live energy data. A standalone web edition is available too.

Why it matters to meGetting the systems at home to work together, with less manual checking and a clearer view of what is happening.

HOW I BRING THAT CURIOSITY TO WORK / 02

Better tools.
A better working day.

Virtual Office is the foundation of my work with AI. Its shared knowledge and virtual-colleague framework connect the tools below, helping each app support the task in context and keep work moving clearly.

Real areas of work, described anonymously. Names and examples below are generalised; all demonstration data is fictional.

The foundation behind the apps

Virtual Office connects the knowledge and the colleagues.

Every app embeds an AI colleague built on the Virtual Office framework, drawing on its shared knowledge and the current task. The interfaces serve different jobs; the colleague foundation connects them.

SHARED AI FOUNDATIONANONYMISED EXAMPLE

The shared foundation behind every AI colleague.

Virtual Office is the top-level project behind these tools. It provides the virtual-colleague framework and shared knowledge that the other apps draw on, bringing a consistent AI coworker into each working context.

WHERE THE COWORKER HELPS

Each app embeds an AI colleague that draws on the Virtual Office framework and knowledge, alongside the records and task in front of the user.

THE HUMAN CHECK

CONNECTED OPERATIONS

FileMaker foundations.
Fresh ways to work.

FileMaker provides the backend records and carefully crafted interfaces for serious data entry. APIs connect that foundation to the task-focused apps, whose AI colleagues draw on Virtual Office knowledge.

WHY AI FITS INTO MY WORK / 03

A useful coworker.
A clearer workflow.

For me, AI is most useful as a coworker inside the tools I’m already using—with the context to help and a clear view of what it is doing.

It can help interpret records, prepare a draft or explain the next step. I aim to make the handovers feel seamless while keeping sources, progress and decisions visible. Less chasing and repeated admin means more attention for the work that needs a person.

01Start with the real task. Start with the relevant files and records.

02Make the work transparent. Show sources, uncertainty and proposed changes.

03Keep the person in control. Review before applying consequential actions.

THE PERSON BEHIND THE PROJECTS / 04

A builder at work.
A tinkerer at heart.

I’m Samuel Chen. I like understanding how things work, trying an idea for myself and making a small part of everyday life a little better.

That curiosity moves between work and hobbies: a FileMaker integration that saves repeated handling, a Cantonese media experiment, or a home-energy tool that connects two systems. I enjoy the process of turning a small frustration into something useful.

Outside work, I’m a gamer with a love of sci-fi worlds, retro games, emulation and FPGA systems. Cantonese language and culture matter to me too. A better balance means leaving more room for these interests and for life beyond the screen.
